Reader Kent Komeri believes the media is showing interest in a “Internet dies in 2012″ viral video on YouTube. Why would I mention it in this newsletter? Because, quite simply, it’s about the death of the Internet as we know it — killed NOT by a computer virus or rampaging worm as so often predicted, but by corporate greed.

“Though I don’t doubt part of the internet will become even more commercial than it is today,” Komeri opined, “I highly doubt that it will happen as these guys describe it.” I certainly agree. As described, every major U.S. Internet provider is conspiring to restrain trade & commerce and therefore is violating antitrust laws.

But corporate greed really doesn’t matter, you see. Every computer security expert knows a virus or worm or cyber-terrorist will utterly destroy the Internet before 2012. Indeed, longtime readers will recall MessageLabs warned the Internet could “become unusable” by no later than 2007. (Read [this link] for details on that prediction.) Pour yourselves a glass of lemonade and enjoy your e-commerce while it lasts, folks…
